Christmas shopper spots smart fridge screen showing Pornhub in John Lewis

A shop in Oxford has given new meaning to ‘sex sells’ after a man found a smart fridge for sale with a porn site open on the large screen.

Alex Michie, from London, was Christmas shopping in Oxford with his parents when he spotted a group of teenagers laughing in John Lewis.

Upon closer inspection, he noticed a Samsung fridge with a large touch screen which enables users to use the internet while in the kitchen.

But instead of recipe websites, the homepage was on the adult film site PornHub, left open for all to see.

“I saw a bunch of teenagers laughing their heads off when they saw it, which drew my attention to the fridge,” Alex said.

“I’m not really into that sort of thing but I can see why some people might like the idea of having something to watch while they’re waiting for the kettle to boil.”

Alex shared a photo of the shocking incident on social media and received a flood of comments.

One user asked: “Is the porn subscription free with the fridge?”

Another joked: “At least it’s a wipeable surface.”

Someone else commented: “The fridge that everyone wants but nobody really needs.”

The fridge appears to be part of Samsung’s ‘Family Hub’ and is designed to help users shop for groceries, track food expiry dates and organise schedules.

A John Lewis spokesman said: “While we cannot be certain how this happened, the image features a logo only – and our in-store systems prevent explicit and restricted websites from being accessed.”
